Thank you for visiting my website. I've made this site mostly in Dutch, but for
you as a foreign visitor I've made an selection of the best stuff from this
site.
About myself
My name is Sake de Vries, a Frisian name, and not a Japanese risewine. The
risewine has a é. I was born in Leeuwarden, the main city of the provice
Friesland, and have moved across the Netherlands troughout my life.
Troughout my youth I've done al lot of things for the NBJB, Nederlandse
Baptisten Jeugd Beweging. This is a Dutch Baptist Youth organisation that has
several activities troughout a year, like a festival, summercamps and a
bibleschool. This organisation supports almost 4 generations of people who
visited mostly the summercamps.
I'm involved in the following workgroups:
- Youth work - Creating and maintaining youth programs, and support youth members and leaders in their church
- Website - maintaining and editing the website from the NBJB
Flevo Festival
Since 1993 I'm visiting Europe largest christian festival, named Flevo
Festival. The festival had been held for more than 25 years on different
locations in the Netherlands. The name comes from one of these locations, the
province Flevoland. The festival was held in Biddinghuizen, nowadays "A
campflight to Lowlands Paradise" is held on this location.
The Flevo Festival had to move, and went to Airport Welschap, near Eindhoven.
But after a few years the location was made to a resedential area, so Flevo had
to move again. Since 2001 the festival is held at "Landgoed Velder" in a small
village called Liempde, just above Eindhoven. It is a country estate from an
old lady. It's always nice to come to the place with beautiful nature and nice
people you meet. Even the old lady herself visits the festival!
The festival is mainly about music from artists all over the world, but
you an also visit movies, theatershows, discussions, politics, standup comedians or do
some kind of artistic sport.
